Girls Leadership Workshops
The first workshop that TLC sponsored for girls and young women was held in 2016. The program was led by Karen Hanson of Girls for the World. That group continues to meet regularly and has grown stronger. Karen most recently returned in 2023 to teach, facilitate and broaden the outreach to girls in the Mohale’s Hoek district of Lesotho.
Girls and young women in impoverished Lesotho are faced with many challenges. Human trafficking, child marriage and rape are not uncommon. We feel it is important to give girls the skills they need to combat those issues.
In 2022 TLC sponsored a 2-day workshop for 20 young women. The focus was Health & Wellness and featured presentations by local nurses, safety officials, self-defense, aerobics, and arts and crafts.
