In 2020, The Lesotho Connection has been instrumental with several efforts in the Mohale’s Hoek community to educate people about Coronavirus. Also, in April, the medical container arrived with much needed PPE and equipment just when it was needed most.
Poster Project
In July 2020, the St. Camillus staff , with supprt from TLC took on the distribution of 70 posters throughout the Mohale’s Hoek district that illustrated how handwashing, distancing, and masks could help reduce the spread of Covid-19.
The posters were printed and donated by a partner organization, Paleng. They are colorful and written in the Sesotho language. They were placed at shops, work places, clinics, and government offices. Our local staff members were key to posting them at the right places to insure that everyone in the district will notice and read them.
Comic Book Project
In September and October of 2020, we were given 2,000 “comic books” that are designed to educate children and families about Coronavirus. We have distributed each one directly into the hands of a child along with a bar of soap and a fabric mask. The hope is that the colorful and fun comic books will get the message directly to the families of these children.
