St. Camillus Centre for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children

This Centre in the Mohale’s Hoek district has developed under the direction of Sister Juliana Manele since 2003. She evolved the program from village home-based care for HIV/AIDS patients to the present day temporary home for vulnerable children that are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The Lesotho Connection helps fund day-to-day care for the children staying at the Centre and also children living with foster families within the community.

The goal of the Centre is to provide a safe and healthy environment while working to reunify the children with family. Funding helps provide them with food, clothing, school fees, and matron care.

Since April of 2020, the Covid-19 crisis in Lesotho has meant that the children are stay-at-home and are being taught by our staff. Our little library has become a schoolroom. Thanks to TLC, it is well outfitted with books, tables, chairs and even 5 laptops.

The children at the Centre are safe, healthy and thriving. Our staff have been on the forefront of education about Covid-19. Please check out our Covid-19 Response projects.
